Nowadays, online casino gambling is one of the most common causes of addictions. The number of players with addiction problems is still increasing. That was the main reason for asking various gambling groups and casinos to introduce some systems of monitoring and getting information about the number of addicts and underage players. Unfortunately, only few companies agreed on such protocols and measures. Among these companies there is the Bwin gambling group which decided to cooperate with a Teaching Affiliate for the Harvard Medical School in order to make a longitudinal research concerning gamblers and their habits and to fight gaming addictions.
The cooperation is not a new idea. Bwin gambling group has worked with Cambidge Health Alliance’s Division of Addictions. The cooperation lasted three years during which the company gave the Division of Addictions some important information concerning player’s habits. The conclusions of the previous cooperation and the present agreement with Harvard Medical School will be used in order to create some new regulations and standards valid at land-based and online casinos.

The company cares not only about the incomes but also about the social issue of gambling.Manfred Bodner, the CEO at Bwin, stated that the company is expecting a precise result form the longitudinal research. “Ultimately, we are interested in creating behavioral models capable of predicting certain outcomes. Therefore, we are working towards establishing the scientific foundation that will yield algorithms capable of identifying risk patterns associated with disordered gambling so that we can prevent them”, Bodner said.
The current study will last five years and is expected to bring some important results. The company hopes to gain some information concerning gambling addictions and gaming habits of online casinos players.
